I know that cost of living pressures, especially the cost of groceries, are putting Australians under pressure.

That’s why the number one priority of the Albanese government is helping Australians with cost of living by bringing prices under control and raising wages.

We've Delivered...

Tax Cuts for Every Taxpayer

  • We’ve given all 13.6 million Australian taxpayers a tax cut
  • 2.9 million lower income earners who were excluded from the Morrison Government scheme, are now getting a tax cut
  • 11.5 million taxpayers are better off than they were under the Morrison Government scheme

Energy Bill Relief

  • In 2022, we passed emergency laws to give pensioners, veterans and concession card holders a $500 energy rebate, benefiting over 5.5 million households
  • In the 2023/2024 budget, we delivered a $300 energy rebate to every Australian household, and additional energy bill relief for small businesses

Wage Rises

  • With the support of the Albanese Labor Government, the Fair Work Commission announced a 3.75% increase in award wages across the board
  • We’ve invested $20.7 billion to fund an average 23% pay rise for aged care workers
  • We’re also delivering a 15% pay rise for early childhood educators

We're standing up to supermarkets

  • We’ve given $30 million to the ACCC the help crack down on misleading and deceptive pricing by supermarkets
  • We’ve given $2.1 million to the ACCC to crack down on excessive surcharge fees, and we’ve announced a ban on debit card surcharges
  • Cracking down on Shrinkflation in our supermarkets by strengthening the unit pricing code

We're providing student debt relief

  • We’ve wiped more than $3 billion in student debt for more than 3 million Australians with student loans
  • We’ve capped the HELP Indexation rate so that student debt can never increase faster than average wage growth
  • A re-elected Labor government will cut a further 20% off every student's debt - that's $16 billion in student debt relief
  • Following a request from the Albanese Government, financial regulators will update their guidance to make it easier for Australians with a HELP debt to take out a mortgage and buy a home
