Women deserve to be equal, respected, and empowered—at work, at home, and in every aspect of society. Yet, for too long, women in Australia have faced gender inequality, violence, discrimination, and unequal access to opportunities. It’s time to change that.

Labor is committed to advancing gender equality, fighting for women’s rights, and creating a future where every woman has the chance to thrive without fear or limitation.  Equality cannot be achieved when women's choices are constrained and representation is lacking.

We've achieved a lot, but there's more to do.

We know that a fairer go for women means a better country for everyone.

What we've done

- Paying Superannuation on Paid Parental Leave and expanding it to 26 weeks, including 10 days of paid family and domestic leave.

  • Making childcare cheaper, saving an average of $1400 a year in 2026, supported by $1 billion to build new and expanded childcare centres
  • Guaranteeing at least three days of subsidised child care each week from January 2026, supported by $1 billion to build new and expanded child care centres.
  • Opening 22 endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics, with 11 more on the way and expanding all 33 clinics to provide menopause care
  • Investing over half a billion dollars for women’s health, including listing new contraceptive pills and menopause hormone therapies on the PBS.
  • Supporting women’s education by making Free TAFE permanent and paying students who must undertake practical placements for teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work qualifications
  • Increasing wages in historically underpaid feminised industries, such as aged care and child care.
  • Invested over $4 billion to reach our goal of ending violence against women and children in one generation
  • Investment in housing to support women and children affected by domestic, family and sexual violence.

A Future for Women Where Equality is the Standard

Labor believes in a future where:
✔️ Women’s work is valued equally, and the pay gap is closed once and for all.
✔️ Every woman is safe—free from violence, harassment, and discrimination.
✔️ Women have access to affordable, quality childcare to enable them to pursue their careers without the financial burden.
✔️ Reproductive rights are protected, and women have full control over their bodies and futures.

I will always fight for women’s rights, because gender equality is fundamental to a fair and just society. Every woman in this country deserves the chance to live a life of freedom, opportunity, and respect.
