Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships

Creative Australia

The Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarships offer talented young artists (aged 21-35 at the closing date) the chance to explore, study and develop their artistic gifts through travelling either interstate and/or overseas.

In 2024, the scholarships will provide financial support for the disciplines of acting, instrumental music, painting and poetry to help talented Australian artists achieve their dreams. In 2025, the scholarships will provide financial support for the disciplines of architecture, ballet, prose, sculpture and singing.

Deadline: 6 February 2024

Amount: $50,000, payable in quarterly instalments over two years

Lady Mollie Isabelle Askin Ballet Scholarship

Creative Australia

The Lady Mollie Isabelle Askin Ballet Scholarship was established by a Deed of Lady Mollie Askin to further culture and advance education in Australia by providing a travelling scholarship for Australian citizens with outstanding ability and promise in ballet. The scholarship is awarded biennially to a candidate who has outstanding ability and promise in ballet.

Keesing Studio Residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts

Creative Australia

The Keesing Studio residency at the Cité internationale des arts is an opportunity for writers to direct their own program of activity and expand their practice and networks. There are five residencies on offer: three x one month (with $5,000 support), and one x three months (with $12,500 support) and one x six months (with $25,000 support).

The diverse range of artists in residence at any one time allows for rich artistic conversations and potential for collaborations. The Cité has a vast network of contacts in Paris and wider France and can assist artists in developing their networks in France. The Cité also organises a program of open studios throughout the year.

BR Whiting Studio Residency

Creative Australia

The BR Whiting Studio residency is an opportunity for writers to direct their own program of activity and expand their practice and networks. There are 3 residencies on offer of varying duration: 1-month (with $5,000 support), 3-months (with $12,500 support), and 6-months (with $25,000 support).

International Travel Fund for Authors and Illustrators

Creative Australia

Individuals or international literary organisations may apply to support authors and illustrators to travel to attend events and activities associated with publication and promotion of their work in international markets. The proposal should include a program of activities designed to engage international readers. This funding may assist with international air fares and other travel costs associated with participation in literary festivals, book tours or other promotional events.

Translation Fund for Literature

Creative Australia

International publishers may apply for a contribution towards the translation of Australian works by living authors of creative writing such as fiction, poetry, writing for children and young people, graphic novels, and narrative non-fiction (defined as autobiography, biography, essays, histories, literary criticism, or analytical prose).  The majority of funding must be used to pay the rights holder and translator.

Australian publishers may also apply to support the translation of non-English language works to English, providing they are using an Australian translator.

International Rights Fund for Literature

Creative Australia

This program supports literary agents, rights managers and publishers to attend international markets such as book fairs to sell rights in Australian works of creative writing. This includes fiction, poetry, writing for children and young people, graphic novels, and narrative non-fiction (defined as autobiography, biography, essays, histories, literary criticism, or analytical prose).

Australian Cultural Fund

The Australian Cultural Fund (ACF) is a fundraising platform for Australian artists. Through the ACF, artists upload their project, start their fundraising campaign and invite art lovers and supporters to donate with 100% of donations going directly towards artists’ creative projects. Through the ACF you can offer tax deductibility to your donors. The ACF has helped raise millions of dollars for Australian artists, enabling a wide range of projects to come to life and offering support to Australia’s cultural sector.

National Cultural Heritage Account

Office for the Arts

The National Cultural Heritage Account is a grant program that assists Australian cultural organisations to acquire significant cultural heritage objects that they could not otherwise afford. The National Cultural Heritage Account helps to retain and protect Australia's cultural heritage for future generations and provide public access to important objects that tell a story about our cultural identity. Australian cultural organisations that can care for and provide permanent public access to Australian protected objects have a priority for funding.

Emerging Gamemakers Fund

Screen Australia

Supports the development of original, new projects from independent gamemakers based in Australia.

Grants will be awarded to projects that:

  • Are at the planning or pre-production stage of development
  • Demonstrate innovation and experimentation
  • Represent or are developed by individuals or teams from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds
  • Are for underrepresented or underserved audiences

Feature Film Production and Enhancement Fund

Screen Australia’s Feature Film Production program aims to support a diverse slate of Australian films for theatrical release that entertain and enlighten domestic and international audiences while reflecting the unique characteristics of Australian identity.

International Finance Fund

Screen Australia

The International Finance fund provides support to Australian projects with a very high level of global appeal, to assist them to develop pitching materials and strategy, in order to best attract international partnerships and finance in the current market.

It is open to long form drama and documentary projects on any platform which are market ready, have undergone a successful development process and can demonstrate development funding from an arm’s length commercial partner.

International Pitching Events and Talent Labs

Screen Australia

International Pitching Events and Talent Labs provides support to producers selected for competitive overseas pitching events in order for them to secure finance, production and marketplace partners for Australian projects, or for key creatives invited to attend premium overseas talent labs to enable professional development and to build international industry networks.

International Marketing Support: Festivals and Awards

Screen Australia

For the promotion of Australian content and talent at the key international festivals and awards events, enabling the enhancement of international marketing strategies in conjunction with other partners.

Limited funding to acknowledge the importance of global strategies for new titles, restricted to their world or international premiere and planned related sales and marketing activities at significant industry events.

Deadline: six weeks in advance of the event.

Amount: up to $20,000 for feature films and television series and $10,000 for short films.

P&A Plus

Screen Australia

This program is designed to enhance the distribution and marketing of quality Australian films across traditional and alternative release platforms.

Funding can be sought to support the traditional theatrical Australian and New Zealand release of completed feature films that have an established local distributor attached, or for alternative release campaigns in certain circumstances.

Quick Response Grants

Regional Arts Victoria

Quick Response Grants funds professional development opportunities for artists and arts workers or small project opportunities. The program supports the immediate need that arises where the activity is unable to be planned for or supported in other funding rounds, for example taking up professional development, skills development or small project opportunities at short notice.
