Labor's Plan for Universally Accessible and Affordable Childcare

As a mother of four and a grandmother to three, I know all too well how hard it is for working families to balance their careers with exorbitantly expensive child care fees.

The way the system is currently designed means many parents – most often women - actually lose money if they work more than three days a week. It simply isn’t fair.

That’s why a Labor Government will make childcare cheaper for 97% of families, by removing the annual cap on the childcare subsidy and increasing the maximum child care subsidy to 90%.

Labor knows childcare is not welfare. It is a universal necessity that will boost women’s ability to go to work if they want or need to.

I’m so proud of Albo for making this his first policy commitment as Leader.
