DEPARTMENT OF HOME AFFAIRS GRANTS
Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS) Program
Designed to empower humanitarian entrants and other vulnerable migrants (and their communities) with the expertise and skills needed to address their settlement needs as a means of improving social and economic participation and community connection.
Funding will assist eligible recipients to integrate into Australian society, while also building the capacity of small and/or CALD-specific organisations to better support their local communities. This program takes a whole-of-community approach to settlement.
Successful applicants will be those that target and prioritise the following groups:
- People who have arrived in Australia in the last 5 years
- People requiring urgent assistance – including victims of family violence, individuals with emergency health and/or wellbeing issues
- Individuals requiring one-off or short-term support through a significant life event
- Dependents who have prioritised the needs of their family and have consequentially delayed their own uptake of, and engagement with, settlement services
- Individuals with low literacy and English language proficiency
- Individuals with critical settlement needs that cannot be met through mainstream services
- Older migrants or individuals who arrived to Australia at a young age and have been in Australia for over 5 years
- New and emerging CALD-specific communities (and their leaders), community representatives and organisations with little corporate capacity.
